Unguja. Wakati maboresho ya daftari la mpigakura yakitarajia kuanza Oktoba 7 hadi 13, 2024, wapiga kura wapya 14,878 wanatarajiwa kuandikishwa kisiwani humo ambao watakuwa na fursa ya kupiga kura moja tu Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.
Kutokana na shughuli hiyo, Tume Huru ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi (INEC) imetumia siku tatu kuanzia Septemba 29 hadi leo Jumatano, Oktoba 2, 2024 kutoa mafunzo kwa wadau wa uchaguzi na watendaji ngazi ya mkoa namna bora ya shughuli hiyo itakavyoendeshwa.
Katika mafunzo hayo, Mjumbe wa INEC, Jaji wa Mahakama Kuu ya Tanzania, Asina Omari amewataka wasimamizi hao kuzingatia taratibu na miongozo kuhakikisha kila anayestahili kupata fursa hiyo haikosi huku akisema wanatarajia upata ushirikiano kutoka kwa wadau.
“Twende tukasimamie sheria taratibu na miongozo ili kila anayestahili kuandikishwa asikose huduma hii,” amesema.
Mkurugenzi wa INEC, Ramadhan Kailima amesema kwa kipindi cha siku hizo wanatarajia kuandikisha wapigakura 14,878 ikiwa ni ongezeko la asilimia 18 ya wapiga kura 83,197 waliopo kwenye daftari la wapigakura.
“Inatarajiwa baada ya uandikishaji itakuwa na wapiga kura 98,075 watakaopiga kura moja tu ya kumpigia Rais wa Jamhuri wa Mungano wa Tanzania,” amesema.
Nao baadhi wadau wa vyama vya siasa wamesema ni kama wameshtukizwa katika hatua hiyo kwani walitakiwa kupewa taarifa muda mrefu kwa ajili ya kuwaandaa wananchi na wafuasi wao.
Ofisa Uchaguzi wa ACT Wazalendo, Muhene Rashid amesema taarifa hizo zimekuja kwa muda mfupi hivyo inaweza kuathiri wananchi wasipate taarifa mapema.
“Hili jambo lilikuwa limepangwa mapema, ila muda umeshakwenda tunatakiwa tujipange na tuhamasishe wananchi lakini kwakuwa muda umeisha inaweza kuathiri na watu wasihamasike zaidi,” amesema.
Hata hivyo, Kailima amesema ni vyema wakatumia muda uliopangwa kupitia majukwaa halali kuhamasisha wananchi wajitokeze kwa wingi badala ya kuona kama muda hautoshi.
Ofisa mwandikishaji Unguja, Amina Saleh amesema:“Tumepata miongozo na sisi tutahakikisha tunasimamia na kuendesha shughuli hii kama ilivyopangwa na malengo ya serikali yafikiwe.”

‘No Marburg Confirmed In Tanzania’, But Mpox Remains ‘Public Health Emergency’
Monrovia — The Director General of the African Centers for Disease Control, Jean Kaseya, has said the center stands ready to support Tanzania and other countries in the region where suspected cases of the infectious Marburg Virus Disease have been identified. The World Health Organization earlier this week issued an alert warning of a possible outbreak in the country, although the Tanzanian Health Ministry has said tests conducted on available samples did not show the existence of Marburg in the East African nation.
“As of the 15 of January 2025, laboratory results from all suspected individuals were negative for Marburg Virus,” Tanzanian Health Minister Jenista Mhagama said in a statement. This would have marked the country’s second experience with the highly infectious disease that recently killed over a dozen people in neighboring Rwanda. Tanzania previously reported an outbreak of Marburg in 2023 in the Kegara region, said to have been the epicenter of the new suspected cases.
At the Africa CDC online briefing on Thursday, Kaseya also said another infectious disease, Mpox, “remains a public health concern”. He said that while in December 2024, the disease had afflicted 20 countries, a new country – Sierra Leone – has been added to the number after recent outbreak there. Sierra Leonean health authorities said on January 10 that two cases of Mpox had been confirmed in the country and dozens of contacts are being traced.
With thousands of confirmed cases of Mpox across Africa and more than 1000 people having died of the disease – mainly in Central Africa – Kaseya emphasized the need to increase testing, a theme he’s heralded before. The Africa CDC boss said over the next few months the continental health watchdog will deploy additional epidemiologists and community health workers to areas considered hot spots of infectious diseases in the region.
