TPC, TanTrade in DITF partnership

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) has signed an agreement with the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) to serve as the main transporter of goods and business participants during the upcoming 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF).

The fair is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 13 at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, commonly known as Sabasaba.

The agreement was signed yesterday by Postmaster General Macrice Mbodo and TanTrade Director General Latifa Khamis in a move aimed at improving logistics and modernising services for both local and international exhibitors.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr Mbodo said the partnership would offer considerable benefits to exhibitors, customers and the broader business community.

“One of the key advantages is that it opens up new economic opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), by reducing transportation costs and delivery times to the exhibition venue,” he said.

He added that the agreement would enable businesses to display and sell their products more efficiently to a wider audience, including international visitors.

In addition, TPC will facilitate transport logistics through its Swift Pack and Baggie services, which are designed to ease the movement of goods and enhance customer convenience.

“We will also provide clearing and forwarding services for international participants. This cargo support will ensure their goods arrive safely and on time at the Sabasaba grounds,” said Mr Mbodo, noting that this will help to attract more international exhibitors and expand access to global markets.

Ms Khamis, for her part, said the agreement with TPC adds value to the trade fair by introducing modern and affordable transport services.

“There will be no handcarts allowed within the exhibition grounds. Instead, modern transport provided by Posta will be available at affordable rates, helping to support both local and international markets,” she said.

She added that visitors would also be able to access exhibition booths using the Swift Pack app, which offers additional services such as the option to purchase entry tickets to the fair.

Ms Khamis urged international exhibitors to coordinate in advance with TPC by providing details such as the volume, weight and expected arrival time of their goods, in order to streamline customs and delivery processes.

She confirmed that so far, participants from more than 19 countries have registered for the 2025 fair, which is expected to attract over 5,000 companies.
