Tanzania, Korea kushirikiana kwenye sekta ya madini, wasaini mikataba

Seoul.  Tanzania na Korea Kusini zimetiliana saini mikataba ya ushirikiano kwenye utafiti, uwekezaji na kujenga uwezo wa kuongeza thamani ya madini ya kimkakati hasa ya nickel, lithium na kinywe.

Mikataba hiyo imesainiwa leo Jumapili Juni 2, 2024 Ikulu ya Korea jijini Seoul mbele ya Rais wa nchi hiyo, Yoon Suk Yeol na Rais wa Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan ambaye yuko nchini humo kwa ziara ya siku sita yenye lengo la kuimarisha ushirikiano baina ya mataifa hayo uliodumu kwa miaka 32 iliyopita.

Leo, ikiwa ni siku ya tatu ya ziara yake, Rais Samia amekutana na kufanya mazungumzo na Rais Yeol na kushuhudia utiaji saini wa makubaliano na tamko la pamoja baina ya pande hizo mbili.

Kwa mujibu wa taarifa iliyotolewa na Mkurugenzi ya Mawasiliano ya Rais, Ikulu, Zuhura Yunus nchi hizo zimetiliana saini hati mbili za makubaliano pamoja na tamko la pamoja la kuanzisha Mkataba wa Ushirikiano wa Kiuchumi (EPA).

Ili kufungua milango zaidi ya ushirikiano wa kibiashara na kiuchumi, Tanzania na Korea Kusini zimesaini mkataba wa EPA utakaowezesha ushirikiano huo kuwa wa kimkakati hasa katika nyanja za biashara, uwekezaji na viwanda.

“Mkataba huu utaiwezesha Tanzania kupokea mkopo kutoka Korea wa Dola 2.5 bilioni za Marekani kwa kipindi cha miaka mitano kuanzia mwaka 2024 hadi 2028.

“Fedha hizo kwa ajili ya miundombinu ya maendeleo zitatolewa chini ya mfuko wa Ushirikiano wa Maendeleo ya Kiuchumi wa Serikali ya Korea (EDCF),” imeeleza taarifa hiyo ya Ikulu.

Hati za makubaliano zilizosainiwa leo ni pamoja na ushirikiano katika uchumi wa buluu, Tanzania itashirikiana na Korea Kusini katika uvuvi, viwanda vya kuchakata mazao ya bahari, ujenzi wa bandari za uvuvi, teknolojia na tafiti za masuala ya bahari.

“Tanzania ni miongoni mwa nchi tatu tu barani Afrika zitakazofanya majadiliano hayo yatakayozaa Mkataba wa Ushirikiano wa Kiuchumi na Korea. Nchi nyingine ni Morocco na Kenya,” imeeleza taarifa hiyo.

Wakati huohuo, taarifa hiyo imeeleza Rais Samia amependekeza ushirikiano wa sekta nyingine mpya zikiwamo maendeleo ya nishati ya gesi asilia, sekta ya ubunifu kama sanaa na filamu pamoja na kufunguliwa kwa soko la ajira nchini Korea kwa vijana wa Tanzania kupitia Mpango wa Employment Permit System (EPS).

Katika hatua nyingine, wanafunzi wa Tanzania wanaosoma elimu ya juu Korea, wameeleza dhamira yao ya kwenda kutumia ujuzi walioupata kuboresha huduma na uendeshaji wa treni ya kisasa (SGR) inayotarajiwa kuanza rasmi Julai 2024.

John Shirima kutoka Mamlaka ya Usafiri wa Ardhini (Latra), amesema maarifa anayoyapata katika shahada yake ya umahiri kwenye uhandisi wa umeme atakwenda kuyatumia ili kuboresha utoaji wa huduma kwenye treni mpya ya kisasa.

“Latra ina jukumu la kusimamia usalama kwenye mradi wa SGR, kuanzia kwenye vyombo vinavyotumika kwa maana ya mabehewa, usalama wa abiria wenyewe na wafanyakazi. Kwa upande wa uchumi, Latra pia inapanga bei ya nauli.

“Ninaamini nikimaliza masomo yangu, nitakuwa sehemu ya wajibu huo na kwa kuzingatia uzoefu mkubwa tulioupata kutoka kwa wenzetu wa Korea, tutafanya vizuri na tutaiendesha na kuisimamia reli yetu wenyewe,” amesema mwanafunzi huyo.

Kwa upande wake, Adam Kimbewele kutoka Shirika la Reli Tanzania (TRC), amesema elimu wanayoipata ni sehemu ya maandalizi ya uendeshaji wa reli ya SGR ili kutoa huduma bora kwa wananchi wanaokwenda kuitumia.

“Kwa kuwa shirika haliwezi kusomesha watu wote, sisi tutakwenda kusambaza maarifa tuliyoyapata hapa kwa wenzetu ili sote tuwe na uelewa wa pamoja katika kusimamia na kuendeasha reli yetu,” amesema mwanafunzi huyo wa Chuo Kikuu cha Woosong.

Akizungumzia mafunzo hayo kwa Watanzania, Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa TRC, Masanja Kadogosa amesema hadi sasa kuna wanafunzi 25 wanaopata mafunzo Korea na wanatarajia kuanzisha Kituo cha Maarifa Dodoma kwa ajili ya kutoa mafunzo kwa mafundi na wahandisi wa reli nchini.

“Korea wana chuo cha mambo ya reli, sisi bado tuko nyuma. Chuo cha Usafirishaji (NIT) kiko kwenye mchakato wa kuanzisha shahada ya masuala ya reli lakini kwa sasa tutakuwa na Centre of Excellency (Kituo cha Maarifa) huko Dodoma kwa ajili ya kuwanoa wataalamu wetu,” amesema.

Tanzania: Samia Hands Over NBC’s 354m/ – Crop Insurance Compensation to Farmers Affected By Hailstorms

President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has handed over a cheque of 354m/- from the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) as compensation to tobacco farmers, who were affected by hailstorms during the previous farming season in various regions across the country.

Handing over the cheque in Dodoma, the compensation is part of the crop insurance service provided by NBC in collaboration with the National Insurance Corporation (NIC).

Furthermore, President Samia has also handed over health insurance coverage to members of the Lindi Mwambao Cooperative Union based in Lindi Region, through the Farmers’ Health Insurance service provided by the bank in partnership with Assurance Insurance Company.

While visiting the bank’s pavilion at the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition and being received and briefed by the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Theobald Sabi, she said: “This crop insurance is one of the crucial solutions in ensuring farmers have a reliable income, without fear of challenges such as natural disasters, including hailstorms.

“I call upon all farmers in the country to make the best use of this important opportunity by accessing these kinds of insurance services. I also highly commend NBC and all the stakeholders participating in this programme.”

Elaborating further on the crop insurance service, the Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe, stated that it will help to recover the loss farmers incurred, especially in various calamities beyond their control.

Citing them as floods, fires, and hailstorms, which have significantly affected the well-being of farmers and caused some to be reluctant to invest in the crucial sector, Mr Bashe added: “However, our President, this step by NBC is just the beginning, as this is the second year since they started offering this service, and the results are already visible.

“As the government, we promise to continue supporting the wider implementation of this service, with the goal of ensuring that this crop insurance service reaches more farmers.”

On his part, Mr Sabi said that the farmers who benefited from the compensations are from 23 primary cooperative unions in the regions of Shinyanga, Geita, Tabora, Mbeya, Katavi, and Kigoma.

He added: “In addition to these insurance services, as a bank, through this exhibition, we have continued with our programme of providing financial education and various banking opportunities to farmers, alongside offering them various loans, including loans for agricultural equipment, particularly tractors, to eligible farmers.:

At the NBC booth, President Samia also had the opportunity to be briefed on the various services offered by the bank to the farmers namely crop insurance and health insurance services.

There, the President had the chance to speak with some of the beneficiaries of the services, including the Vice-Chairman of the Lindi Mwambao Primary Cooperative Union, Mr. Hassan Mnumbe, whose union has been provided with a health insurance card from the bank.
