Bomba la Tazama kupanuliwa, Tanzania, Zambia wajadiliana

Dar es Salaam. Serikali ya Tanzania kupitia Wizara ya Nishati na ile ya Zambia zipo katika mazungumzo yanayolenga kuongeza uwekezaji katika bomba la Mafuta la Tanzania – Zambia (TAZAMA).

Mazungumzo hayo yanalenga kupanua bomba la mafuta kutoka inchi 8 hadi inchi 12 ili kuliwezesha kuwa na uwezo wa kusafirisha mafuta mengi zaidi kwenda nchini Zambia na nchi nyingine za jirani.

Mbali na hilo, pia zipo katika mkakati wa kujenga bomba jipya litakalokuwa na inchi 24 ili kuongeza usafirishaji.

Hayo yameelezwa leo Jumatatu, Agosti 26, 2024 wakati Serikali ikipokea gawio la Sh4.35 bilioni kutoka Tazama Pipeline ikiwa ni sehemu ya faida waliyotengeneza.

Akizungumza baada ya kupokea gawio hilo, Naibu Waziri Mkuu na Waziri wa Nishati, Dk Doto Biteko amesema lengo la kufanya uwekezaji huo sasa ni kushusha gharama kwa wamiliki wa vituo vya mafuta katika maeneo ambayo bomba linapita.

“Mbali na upanuzi pia tunatarajia kuanza ujenzi wa bomba jipya la inchI 24 na hili lipo katika hatua za ununuzi kabla utekelezaji haujaanza,” amesema Dk Biteko.

Amesema lengo ni kuona utumiaji wa malori katika kusafirisha mafuta unapungua na watu wengi wanahamia katika kutumia bomba kwa kuchukua mafuta katika baadhi ya vituo vitakavyowekwa katika mikoa husika.

“Lengo letu ni mafuta yanayokwenda mikoa ya kusini kwa kutumia malori,  yasafirishwe kwa bomba,” amesema Dk Biteko.

Amesema kufanya hivyo kunalenga kuhakikisha Watanzania wanapata mafuta kwa bei nafuu kwa sababu gharama za usafirishaji, ni miongoni mwa vitu vinavyochangia kuongezeka kwa bei ya mafuta ya rejareja.

Pia, kufanya hivyo kutasaidia kulinda barabara zisiharibike haraka kutokana na usafirishaji unaofanywa kwa kutumia malori.

Akizungumzia gawio hilo, Dk Biteko amesema ni moja ya hatua njema ambayo inatia moyo. Amesema Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan alipofanya ziara nchini Zambia moja ya maelekezo aliyotoa ni kuhakikisha miradi inayotekelezwa na nchi hizo mbili ina inasimamiwa ili kuleta manufaa.

“Pia miradi hii ichangie katika kubadilisha maisha ya watu na hali zao na kwa sababu tulikuwa hatujapata gawio tangu mwaka 2019, niliwaita nikawauliza wakasema wataleta hela na leo wameleta,” amesema Dk Biteko.

Akifafanua kuhusu ujenzi wa bomba jipya, Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Tazama, Davison Thawethe amesema bomba hilo jipya litakuwa na uwezo wa kusafirisha futi za ujazi milioni tano za mafuta kutoka Dar es Salaam hadi Ndola Zambia kwa mwaka.

“Tumeagiza kampuni kufanya upembuzi yakinifu utakaoanza siku yoyote kuanzia sasa ili kubaini bomba hilo litagharimu kiasi gani,” amesema.

Amesema uamuzi wa kujenga bomba jipya ni kuendana na ukuaji wa bidhaa za mafuta unaoongezeka kila mwaka.

Awali, Mwenyekiti wa bodi wa kampuni hiyo, Peter Mumba amesema gawio hilo limetokana na utendaji mzuri walioushuhudia licha ya baadhi ya changamoto walizopitia.

“Jambo hilo limefanya kuboresha utoaji wetu wa huduma, jitihada hizi hazijaimarisha uhudumiaji wateja tu bali pia uwezo wetu wa kifedha,” amesema Mumba.

Msajili wa Hazina, Nehemia Mchechu amesema shirika la Tazama lilianza miaka 58 iliyopita na kama ingekuwa ni umri wa mtu basi amebakiza miaka miwili kabla hajastaafu.

Amesema kipindi hicho mtu huwa ameishiwa nguvu ila ni tofauti na Tazama ambao umri huo ndiyo wanaanza kuamka na kupata nguvu kubwa.

Amesema fedha hizo zitakwenda kutekeleza miradi mbalimbali ya maendeleo kama ilivyoelekezwa.

Tanzania: Samia Hands Over NBC’s 354m/ – Crop Insurance Compensation to Farmers Affected By Hailstorms

President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has handed over a cheque of 354m/- from the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) as compensation to tobacco farmers, who were affected by hailstorms during the previous farming season in various regions across the country.

Handing over the cheque in Dodoma, the compensation is part of the crop insurance service provided by NBC in collaboration with the National Insurance Corporation (NIC).

Furthermore, President Samia has also handed over health insurance coverage to members of the Lindi Mwambao Cooperative Union based in Lindi Region, through the Farmers’ Health Insurance service provided by the bank in partnership with Assurance Insurance Company.

While visiting the bank’s pavilion at the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition and being received and briefed by the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Theobald Sabi, she said: “This crop insurance is one of the crucial solutions in ensuring farmers have a reliable income, without fear of challenges such as natural disasters, including hailstorms.

“I call upon all farmers in the country to make the best use of this important opportunity by accessing these kinds of insurance services. I also highly commend NBC and all the stakeholders participating in this programme.”

Elaborating further on the crop insurance service, the Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe, stated that it will help to recover the loss farmers incurred, especially in various calamities beyond their control.

Citing them as floods, fires, and hailstorms, which have significantly affected the well-being of farmers and caused some to be reluctant to invest in the crucial sector, Mr Bashe added: “However, our President, this step by NBC is just the beginning, as this is the second year since they started offering this service, and the results are already visible.

“As the government, we promise to continue supporting the wider implementation of this service, with the goal of ensuring that this crop insurance service reaches more farmers.”

On his part, Mr Sabi said that the farmers who benefited from the compensations are from 23 primary cooperative unions in the regions of Shinyanga, Geita, Tabora, Mbeya, Katavi, and Kigoma.

He added: “In addition to these insurance services, as a bank, through this exhibition, we have continued with our programme of providing financial education and various banking opportunities to farmers, alongside offering them various loans, including loans for agricultural equipment, particularly tractors, to eligible farmers.:

At the NBC booth, President Samia also had the opportunity to be briefed on the various services offered by the bank to the farmers namely crop insurance and health insurance services.

There, the President had the chance to speak with some of the beneficiaries of the services, including the Vice-Chairman of the Lindi Mwambao Primary Cooperative Union, Mr. Hassan Mnumbe, whose union has been provided with a health insurance card from the bank.
