Behind the Scenes of a ‘Ladies’ Man’

Behind the Scenes of a ‘Ladies’ Man’

Diamond Platnumz: The Man, The Myth, The Walking ScandalIf there’s one thing East Africa’s entertainment industry guarantees, it’s drama.

And if there’s one man who can turn everyday life into a primetime soap opera, it’s none other than Diamond Platnumz.

Honestly, I’m starting to believe his life is secretly scripted by the best telenovela writers in the game.

From steamy scenes with Fantana that had social media losing its collective mind to leaked, eyebrow-raising moments with Rita, Diamond’s love life is more unpredictable than a Wi-Fi connection on a rainy day.

Is he a musician or an undercover reality TV star? The lines are getting blurry.

Media, Scandal & Staying Relevant 101

In Bongo land, if you’re not trending, are you even famous? Celebrities wake up every morning, check if their name is in the headlines, and if it’s not—panic mode activated.

And Diamond? Oh, he’s got this game down to a science. Whether it’s through viral clips, cryptic Instagram posts, or interviews where he “accidentally” reveals juicy details, he makes sure we never run out of tea to sip.

Tabloids? They’re basically his unpaid PR team.

One day he’s in love, the next day he’s “just focusing on music,” and by the weekend, there’s another mystery woman in the picture. It’s exhausting—but also, we can’t look away.

A Survival Guide for Celebs in the Spotlight

Having had my fair share of run-ins with the entertainment industry, I’ve learnt one thing: fame is like riding a boda boda with no helmet—exciting, dangerous, and best enjoyed with a good sense of humour.

So, to all the celebrities out there (yes, you too, Diamond), here’s some free advice:

Focus on your craft—unless your craft is causing drama, in which case, carry on.

Don’t let the leaks get you down—unless it’s a new song, in which case, drop it before it gets pirated.

Remember, we love the entertainment, but your sanity matters too—take a break, hydrate, and maybe, just maybe, consider a relationship that doesn’t end up on our timelines.

At the end of the day, whether we’re here for the music or the mess, one thing is certain: Diamond Platnumz will always give us something to talk about.

And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Africa: Rwanda Gets a Grip Of Marburg, But Mpox ‘Not Yet Under Control’

Monrovia — The Rwanda Minister of State responsible for Health, Dr. Yvan Butera, cautioned that while the country is beginning to see positive signals in its fight against the Marburg virus, the outbreak is “not yet over”. He, however, expressed hope that  “we are headed in that direction”. The minister said the epidemiology trend, since the disease was first discovered in the country more than a month ago, is moving towards fewer cases.

Dr. Butera, who was giving updates during an online briefing yesterday, said in the past two weeks, only two deaths were recorded while 14 people recovered from the disease. He said Rwanda was expanding its testing capacity with 16,000 people already inoculated against the disease.

The priority right now, Butera said, is “rapid testing and detection”.

Marburg is a highly virulent disease transmitted through human-to-human contact or contact with an infected animal. The fatality rate of cases, which has varied over the period, is more than 50%, according to the World Health Organization.  WHO said the highest number of new confirmed cases in Rwanda were reported in the first two weeks of the outbreak. There’s been a “sharp decline” in the last few weeks, with the country now tackling over 60 cases.

At Thursday’s briefing, a senior official of the Africa Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Ngashi Ngongo, said mpox – the other infectious disease outbreak that countries in the region are fighting – was been reported in 19 countries, with Mauritius being the latest country to confirm a case. He said although no new cases have been recorded in recent weeks in several countries where outbreaks occurred previously –  including Cameroon, South Africa, Guinea, and Gabon – Uganda confirmed its first Mpox death. This, he said, is one of two fatalities reported outside Central Africa.

Dr. Ngashi revealed that there was an increase in cases in Liberia and Uganda. He said mpox cases were still on an upward trend.

“The situation is not yet under control.”
